Review: FOREO Luna Mini
*Please bare with me as many of the links currently on this blog are blank because I just started this blog! I will fill it up soon! Working on many new posts at the moment! Thank you for understanding! :)*
Ever since I started this blog, I would look at all the products that I'm using and think, "I could do a review on this". However, when it really comes down to it, I either forget to take pictures while I'm using a product, or I finished the product before I had the chance to take a picture -_-.
I thought I had enough time this week to do a comparison mask review on Lush and Queen Helene, you probably guessed, but I forgot to take pictures! Luckily, I found the perfect product to review this week, and the mask match will come around next week. Make sure you keep an eye out for those :)
Product:
FOREO Luna Mini
What it Claims:
"Gently removes dead skin cells, and unclogs pores of dirt, oil, and makeup residue. It enhances the absorption of skincare products and delivers visibly brighter, more radiant skin. "
Price:
$ 159 Canadian Dollars, and purchased at Sephora by my boyfriend, Ben.

Some Background
I can't make decisions. I couldn't tell you how many times I've walked into Shoppers Drug Mart's beauty department with a vague knowledge of what I want, but when faced with the wall of products I end up not making a decision at all. I suppose not deciding on anything is still a decision, but I get way too intimidated with all the choices before me.
So of course, my indecisiveness got to me when I was deciding whether to get the Luna Mini or Clarisonic Mia.
Yes, you guessed it, I was having a bad skin phase (yet again) while I was deciding which electronic facial washer was going to save my face. However, it was not due to breaking out, but because I had an allergy reaction to a product I have used that caused severe swelling and peeling. This is why, ladies and gentlemen, you should always do research before putting things on your face.
Luckily, I didn't have to ponder for too long because Ben made the decision for me as he purchased the Luna Mini for me as a Christmas gift.
About the product:
The Luna Mini is composed of silicon touch-points. There are 3 different densities for these touch points, creating 3 unique zones.
The front side zones are composed of two different sized silicon touch-points, and it is best used for dry and sensitive skin. The silicon brushes on the reverse side is designed for deep cleansing, especially around the T-zone area.
After pressing the center button, the Luna Mini will immediately begin to vibrate. By pressing the button again, the Luna switches to a softer vibration mode that is better for washing delicate areas, such as around the eyes. Press the center button a third time, and Luna will be turned off.
The Luna has a self-timer, it will vibrate three consecutive times after one minute, and will shut off on its own after three full minuets.
My Review
The Good
I've been using Luna Mini for over 8 months now, and a good thing is that it did not break me out. Luna Mini is great for eliminating dead skin without being too intense, and I swear by this because it did an incredible job on cleaning my face during my last allergy reaction where my face was peeling due to intense swelling.
I started using Luna twice daily with the stronger vibration speed, and I would use it until it shuts off automatically (after 3 mins). By the end of the first week, my face was stinging in pain due to the intense cleaning. Over the past 8 months, I've slowly changed my routine to using the softer vibration speed once a day for one minute.
Some reviews state that it is difficult to get around the eyes and nose due to the round shape of Luna Mini, but I have not found this to be a problem. This is probably because I have a flatter face structure lol! Also, the shape of the Luna Mini is super easy to fit into makeup bags and the silicon brushes can be kept clean with little or no maintenance.
In terms of battery life, I have to say I am very impressed. A half an hour charge can lasts for four months! It is definitely a plus for those who travels around as it is less hassle, and saves luggage space (although a wire doesn't take much space).
I believe Luna Mini is definitely a cheaper alternative compared to the Clarisonic Mia as it does not require brush changes. This really just means cleaner skin with fewer dollars invested, which is always a plus for me :)
Finally, I would say that after I started using Luna, my complexion was brighter and cleaner as it did a good job in terms of clearing away the dead skin. BUT, like any product, the halo effect eventually wears off and disappears.
The Not so Good
Now, I don't want to say you can get a similar result with facial scrubs, or other exfoliating masks, because I actually like the Luna Mini. I looked forward to having it and using it before I had it. It's just that after 8 months, the initial hype just died off.
Also, the review for this product would be quite different, if I wrote it within the first 3 months of using it. Now that I have been using the Luna for over 8 months now, I believe that like any exfoliating products, if you stop using it for a while and then use it again, you would feel a lot better about the results that it provides. It could be because I've gotten too used to the results that it provides, hence I no longer feel like it is super awesome even though it's been keeping my skin bright and vibrant. (Taking things for granted, is what I would describe it)
I would say that the device is pretty expensive, but I believe the product can also last for a very long time. Like I said before, you could probably get good exfoliating results with a mask or scrub but hey, exfoliating scrubs and masks runs out, and electricity doesn't (it does, but you know what I mean). But this could just be me trying to convince myself that it is worth $160 dollars lol.
Final Thoughts?
Yes, Luna is probably better for facial cleansing than bare hands, but I expected it to deliver more than just a clean face. I was hoping that a good cleansing regimen would reduce breakouts, and tighten pores. I won't blame my continuous breakouts on the Luna because a lot of it is probably on me (hormones, lifestyle and etc), but them pores man, them pores remained the same size :(
$160 dollars for a cleansing regimen sounds fairly expensive, but the Luna Mini can definitely last for a long long time. If you want to invest in a facial brush that doesn't require hassles such as brush changing, charging, and you have the money lying around, then I would say Luna Mini is a good option. At the end of the day, you do get a little facial massage, and I've been told that the vibration gives good head massages that gets rid of migraines :)
But them pores man, they are still so large!! :(

Would I purchase it again?
Well, I mentioned that it will last for a long long time. Probably long enough that I don't need to buy another facial cleansing device. Let's just say I am a lot less intrigued by the results now than I was before. If I knew what I know now, I might not have been as excited in the first 3 months. But nevertheless, I am glad I have it. Thanks Ben! <3 :)

I was hesitating on whether to get one of my own. I've been used a Clarisonic Mia 2 for about a year, and the constant need for brush head replacement is just getting on my nerves. Thanks for the detailed review Kate :) Looking forward to your next one~
