Review: Olay's Fresh Effect Moisturizer

In my last life rant post, "How I stopped Breaking Out", I mentioned the first moisturizer I used in my new routine is Olay's Fresh Effect moisturizer. As promised, here is a quick review on it :)
Product:
Olay's Fresh Effect {Long Live Moisture!} Satin Finish Lotion
Price:
I got it as a gift, so I'm not exactly sure how much it is. I'm pretty sure its under $20 and you can pretty much find it in any store that sells skin products.
What it Claims:
"Our exciting satin finish formula gives you all the rich hydration of a lotion but with the lightweight feel of a gel. So lose the shine and get satiny active moisturizers keeping your skin soft and smooth for up to 24-hours."
Some Background
Basically, I started using this moisturizer because I was suffering from a massive breakout for over nine months. I dumbed down my routine to Lancome's Creme Radiance Cleanser and this moisturizer because I really wanted to simplify my routine. This way, I can see if I would stop breaking out if I stopped overwhelming my face with a dozen of different products. I am very content with the result of my simplified routine. As a result, this product has been added to my morning routine.
My Review:
This lotion has a very good mattifying effect, it reduces excessive shine on the face very well. Along with the hydration it provides, this mattifying effect lasts throughout the day. I find my face still feeling supple even after six hours.
After I started using this product, the amount of breakouts I was experiencing began to decrease. I'm not exactly sure if it's because of this product, or merely because I stopped overwhelming my face with complex routines that involves an overwhelming number of different products. Nevertheless, I find that this product has somewhat stabilized my skin and did not act as a source of irritation.
The Application:
One pump of this lightweight gel-like moisturizer is enough for the entire face. The texture is very light and easy to apply. One neat thing about the texture is that the lotion first comes out in a creamy white color with a little bit of shine in it, but as you dab some of it on to your skin/face, the color changes into a light pink tone that looks almost transparent on your skin. I don't really know if this is suppose to do anything, but I thought the effect was pretty cool.
Conclusion
Olay's Fresh Effect Moisturizer is a very basic lotion. It has great mattifying effect that reduces excessive shine. Despite having somewhat of a fragrance, and the color changing effect, it did not break me out. For the purpose of this review, I find that this product has helped me in achieving the desired results I was looking for. Combined with a simpler routine, this product have helped me in the stabilization of my skin.

Will I Purchase it Again?
Despite the fact that this product has played a role in helping me stabilize my skin, I will most likely not purchase this product again. One of the major reasons is that this product contains Paraben, which I was not aware of until recently. I will finish this product and proceed to other daytime moisturizers. However, if the existence of Paraben is not of a concern to you, I do suggest giving this product a try.
Note: After a month of using a cleanser and a moisturizer, I added Avene's Thermal Spring Water as a toner. I then proceeded on to adding new products such as night lotions and serums with two weeks apart. This way it allows me to isolate the effect of each product, whether it is a positive or negative effect.
