Review: Avene's Cleansing Gel

Product:
Avene's Cleansing Gel, Soap-Free - Face and Body, for Oily, Blemish-Prone Skin

Price:
The one I have came in a package, it is only 100ml. The full size of the product is 200 ml for 21.50 CAD

Claims:
"Eliminates impurities and excess oil without stripping the skin"

Some Background:
Ben got me this a while back when I was breaking out a lot, but I've only recently started to use it because I've finally finished Lacome's Creme Radiance Cleanser (LCR)

Anyway, I am going to be comparing this cleanser a lot to the LCR just because it is easier to compare when there is a base for comparison. You can review the previous review by clicking on the underlined title!

Review:
This cleansing gel is very VERY basic, it is almost more basic then LCR. You will see why in a second.

LCR is kind of thick and lathers up quite a bit. Avene's cleansing gel on the other hand, feels a lot thinner and more slippery. I would say Avene's Cleansing Gel is more "liquid-like".

In my LCR post, I mentioned that LCR is already a pretty basic cleanser. It leaves the face feeling a bit tight and dry after use, but at the same time it leaves the skin feeling very clean, bright and radiant. When it comes to Avene's Cleansing Gel,  it cleans the face, but it doesn't have any other additional properties.

Avene's Cleansing Gel doesn't leave the skin feeling dry at all, and it leaves the skin feeling very comfortable, sort of like you've just rinsed your face with clear water. I guess that would be a good thing if you are looking for gentle cleansers, and not so good if you are looking to clean off excess makeup residue and whatnot.

I use this cleanser only at night, because it is so gentle and basic I would use the cleanser to wash my face first with my hands, and then I would combine it with Foreo Luna Mini to ensure my make up is washed off completely.

Other than the gentleness of the cleanser, I don't see much difference in the improvement of skin. It says it is for oily and blemish-prone skin, but I don't think it helps very much with blemishes. If I had to choose, I would say LCR probably does a better job in improving blemishes since it has brightening effects.

Application:
" A little goes a long way" does not apply here. I feel like this cleanser goes out a lot faster than LCR. A 60ml LCR lasted me well over a year, while this 100ml Cleansing gel is looking like its going to last me for only a couple of months.

Conclusion:
This cleanser is very suitable for individuals with sensitive skin who seeks gentle cleansers. But for people like me, who often breaks out and has excess sebum, this cleanser is just a bit too gentle.

Quick Summary

Pros
- Very gentle cleanser
- Does not leave the skin feeling dry

Cons
- Runs out pretty fast
- Too basic

Will I Purchase it Again?
Comparing Avene's Cleansing Gel to LCR, its chance of being purchased again is rather grim. If I had to choose between the two, I will for sure choose LCR. So no, I would not purchase Avene's Cleansing Gel again. However, if you have sensitive skin and is looking for a basic and gentle cleanser, you can give this one a try. I've seen a lot of great reviews on this product, maybe you will be one of them!
