Review: Life Brand's Vitaderm Oil
Product
Life Brand's Vitaderm Oil
Price
You can purchase this at Shoppers Drug Mart, I believe I got it for around $10 Canadian
Claims
"Helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging skin, and dehydrated skin"
Some Background
I believe it is very similar to bio-oil.
Application
This is one of those products that I use at the end of my routine. I would use this after I finish applying my night routine (serum, moisturizer, spot treatment, and etc), and I would spread a couple of drops evenly on my hands first and then apply it on my face in a gentle pressing motion. I don't recommend wiping it onto the face, it just doesn't work that way.
Don't be alarmed if it leaves your facing looking oily, it is oil after all. Some of the oil will be absorbed, but mostly it will still leave your face looking rather shiny. I recommend using oils at night so you don't go out with an oily face and make a mess >.< However, I also think the effects and absorption is much better at night as well.
I use this oil as a form of barrier for the skin to lock in moisture throughout the night. Not sure if it really works that way, but it's my theory after seeing the results of products like this. I mean, they have moisture locking night masks, why not oils right?
Anyway, so I would use this and then go to sleep. The oil on my face would be gone in the morning ( probably all on my pillow, but I would like to think that my skin still absorbed some lol). Surprisingly, Vitaderm doesn't leave my face feeling oilier in the morning.
Result
I always wake up the next day with better complexion. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Not to exaggerate, but my face is honestly more plum, and looks a lot more well rested. Not saying this product will turn you into a beauty queen, but it does make a difference.
Well, I can't ignore the fact that the skin does look better in the morning than at night after rest. But I think this product still adds to the morning effect. However, despite it having this magical power of leaving my face looking fresh, I do not use it every night. I don't see why you can't, but I just prefer having simpler routines. Sometimes my routine gets kinda hectic with glycolic acid, spot treatments and stuff, so I try not to overwhelm my face too much.
Plus, I also found a great way to use this oil in getting rid of black heads. I'm thinking of writing a separate post on that :)
Conclusion
Overall, this product does support its claims. After using this at night, I find my face feeling hydrated and plum with more even skin tone.
Quick Summary
Pros
- Inexpensive
- Leaves the skin feeling hydrated
- Evens out skin tone
Cons
- can be a bit oily
Ratings out of 5: 4/5 (80%)
Will I Purchase it Again?
I feel like this 60ml bottole will last me a VERY LONG TIME. I also have other oils lined up at the moment. It is a good product, but I am more interested in trying oils that are more organic, like argon and coconut oil :)
